This was one of the later Betty Boops and as most fans know she was the victim of the efforts to "clean up" films. The hillbillies and their Senators didn't like the tight dresses, didn't like the flirtatious winks, didn't like lewd, amoral jazz music and especially didn't like white women doing duets with darkies. So Betty here is a businesswoman and the later cartoons pleased no one. I can imagine what Dave Fliescher actually thought of the yokels that were putting him out of business, but in the interest of not offending children I'll refrain from doing so.
